Havilah Village is an orphanage in Tanzania which is home to twenty children. It is located on the University of Arusha campus in the bucolic village of Ngongongare, at the foothills of Mt. Meru and 60 kilometers from Mt. Kilimanjaro. Through donations, fundraising, and mission trips, we opened our first house of ten children in 2007. A second house of ten additional children was completed and opened in 2008. Two more houses have been completed and are currently used to house the directors, teachers, volunteers, and mission groups. An administration building is partially built and will be completed when funding is available. The construction and operation of the orphanage is funded by personal donations.
Our Mission
"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world," James 1:27. We aim to nurture and raise the children at Havilah to be strong, educated, leaders by providing a vibrant and healthy environment in which to grow and the resources required to allow them to succeed in life. We have been called to care for those less fortunate in the world and Havilah Village is one way in which we are living out this calling.
Our Vision
The master plan for the campus of Havilah Village includes ten houses of ten children, an administrative and classroom building, hostel type rooms for guests and mission groups, playing fields, playgrounds, and gardens. We are tremendously grateful for the many generous donors that have gotten us to where we are today. In order to grow further, open additional houses, and bring in additional children, we need the commitment of on-going support from a wider base of people. The need is great, but with an active support network, you can help us succeed in reaching as many needy children as possible.
